The ax is an artifact that points us to the very beginning of tool making, maybe the ability to logically think and combine thoughts. I wonder if creating tools pushed us to develop our brains, differentiate us from an instinct-based animal living and made us who we are today. There is so much more to it than just a functional tool. A tool that helps us understand the history of our ancestors.
